Tweedsiders put sport on the table

Table Tennis Scotland and the Kelso Youth Project and are looking to relaunch the sport in the Borders.

A special coaching day, and the first Borders-wide tournament, will take place at the Kelso High School Games Hall on Saturday.

Stewart McGowan, tournament umpire and referees’ coordinator of Table Tennis Scotland said: “What we are trying to do here in Kelso is not only provide a great day for all young people, but help establish a table tennis centre of excellence for all in the Borders.”

The day starts with registration from 9.15 am in the school’s sports hall, then at 9.45am it all kicks off with the coaches spending the next few hours ensuring that all young people are well prepared for the first Borders tournament.

A quick break for lunch and the tournament begins with a magnificent cup up for grabs.
