Minto Golf Club saw four members of the same family appear on championship finals day, with mixed results for the quartet.

The talented Towers went home with two trophies from three ties, as juniors Frazer and Lily competed for the Class 2 title against one another.

The intriguing contest between brother and sister began with them halving the first hole, but a majestic 25-yard birdie putt on the second put Frazer one up.

His sister struck back immediately with a tee shot to seven feet to win the fourth hole. Thereafter, Frazer dominated, winning 6 & 5.

Dad Angus won the Gents’ Division 2 Championship against Ali Elliot 2 & 1, but Anne Paterson beat mum Mary in the Ladies’ Bronze Division final 4 & 3.

Elsewhere, Peter Gibb won the Gents’ First Division Championship for the third time after a 34-hole match with Brian Howden.

In the Ladies’ Silver Division, Carole Allott was pushed all the way by Cherry Thom before eventually prevailing on the 18th hole.

Rory Latta won the Juniors’ Class 1 Championship, beating Daniel Murdoch 3 & 2, adding to his run of impressive results in club competitions this year.

In the other finals, Jake Hope beat Tommy Mulvee 4 & 3 for a maiden win in the Gents’ Division 3 Championship and Finlay Campbell and Hector Patterson won the Juniors’ six-hole A and B championships respectively.

The club is now looking forward to hosting a Three-man Team Open on Saturday – phone 01450 870220 to enter.
