Tough start

Stainton 2nds beat Langholm by eight wickets

LANGHOLM realised it is not going to be easy in the Eden Valley Cricket League, even in Division Three, after this comprehensive defeat, writes John Smith.

Batting first, they struggled to 14 for 3 as Andrew Bell, Ben Maxwell and Duncan Elliott all departed early.

Wickets dropped steadily and Langholm were all out for 51 in 20 overs.

Stainton made a bad start and lost openers Holiday and Hall for a duck, caught by Park and Maxwell respectively off the bowling of Elliott.

But Pamphillon (9) and Wood (39) soon settled and were still at the wicket when they passed the Langholm total in 16 overs.

Elliott finished with bowling figures of 2 for 17.
