Bowler Dinesh Tharanga became the first Gala player to take 50 wickets in a season for 26 years.
The Sri Lankan claimed the wicket of Jordan Reid in the Braw Lads’ Border 20-20 Cup final win over Selkirk to reach the landmark.
The previous bowler to achieve the feat was Davie Ormiston in 1989.
The former Scotland B internationalist-turned-groundsman, who was made a life member this year to mark his dedication to Gala CC, was on hand to congratulate Tharanga on his achievement.
Kenny Paterson, secretary of Gala CC, said: “Dinesh has bowled superbly all season and missed out on the East League Division One top bowler title by just one wicket.
“His four wickets for just eight runs conceded at Heriot’s was the highlight of his performances.
“It meant a lot to Dinesh and everyone was delighted for him.
“It was capped by Davie, who has given Gala years of service both on and off the pitch and prepared a fantastic pitch for the final, being the first to congratulate him for matching his record from 1989.”
