THE Hawick Teviotdale Turbos were in action again last Sunday in the last Border League meeting of the year at the Teviotdale Leisure Centre.
Emma Suddon got proceedings off to a flier in the 12 and under girls’ 200m freestyle which she won in front of Kelso’s Morvern Anderson, also knocking five seconds off her previous best time.
Brother and sister Charlie and Lindsay Jack finished third in their respective backstroke races, while in the breaststroke, Mairead Cottrell finished second, Sarah Johnstone swam a five-second PB and Rachel Sharp performed well.
In the butterfly, Amy Johnstone finished third in her race while Emma Suddon had her second win of the day.
In the freestyle, Rachel Sharp won her race in a sprint finish, while Emily Angus had a PB and Vilmantas Noreika and Jenny Sharp did themselves proud.
The girls’ under-12 relay team, made up of Lindsay Jack, Mairead Cottrell, Emma Suddon and Jenny Sharp, then took first spot, with the Turbos winning the under-12 girls’ league ahead of Kelso.
On the day, Emma Suddon finished equal top swimmer with Kathryn Swinney from Peebles, both on 16 points. Abbie Thompson from Eyemouth, Kelso’s Anderson and Lizzie Clelland were joint third with 15 points.
