BLUSTERY conditions were the order of the day for the third event of the Borders Sport and Leisure Trust Triathlon Series at Tweedbank Sports Centre last weekend.

More than 40 competitors took part in the first of two duathlons being held over the series.

Encompassing two 5km runs and a 20km cycle, the sunny, but windy conditions didn’t make it easy for those taking part.

Prizes winners: Gents – 1, Colin Stevenson 1.06.51; 2, Chris Thomson 1.09.25; 3, (first senior veteran) RG McLean 1.10.47.

First male veteran, Charles McLaughlin 1.15.54; first male vintage, David Littlemore 1.17.08.

Ladies – 1, (first female veteran) Elaine Lowden 1.20.46; 2, Alison McGill 1.22.43; 3, (first senior veteran) Varry McCullough Young 1.23.46. First junior female, Fiona Bracegirdle 1.28.00.

Borders Sport and Leisure Trust would like to thank all volunteers who helped marshal the event.

The series’ next stop is Peebles on Sunday, June 12, with the event having reached capacity a few weeks ago.

Following that, it’s Hawick – Sunday, July 3; Kelso – Sunday, August 7; Peebles Duathlon – Sunday, August 21; and Eyemouth – Sunday, September 25.
