WEST LINTON track star and Southern Reporter Sports Personality of the Year Stacey Downie is well and truly back on track following two medal-winning performances at the Scottish Championships in Scotstoun last weekend.
The 24-year-old was forced out of action for most of last year after suffering a hip displacement. But, since her return to the track at the start of the summer season, the Edinburgh AC sprinter has a new spring in her step, culminating in a well-earned double last weekend.
Going in the 100m on Saturday, Downie, who is coached by Bill Walker, broke the tape in 11.88 seconds to take the gold ahead of Leah Moore (Windsor). And the following day she was only just pipped to the line in the 200m by Olympic athlete Lee McConnell.
