AN ECCLES teenager has been selected to represent Great Britain in the junior individual class at the European Vaulting Championships in Le Mans, France in August.

Stacey MacPherson, 16, a member of Reivers Vaulting Group based at Reston, has been vaulting since she was eight years old and has represented her country three times before as part of a team, but this will be her first time as an individual. She will be travelling to France with lunger Rebecca Morgan and horse Delikat. Delikat is owned by Berwickshire group of Riding for the Disabled (RDA) and fits in vaulting round his regular RDA sessions.

Stacey has had to go through two selection events and also gain an international score before finally getting confirmation of her selection.

She has been awarded a Berwickshire Sports Council grant which will be an added bonus to her fundraising efforts.
