Seconds succumb to ’Muir again

Borders Fjordhus II 1

Boroughmuir 2

HAVING played and lost to the same team last week, due to winter cancellations earlier this season, the Borderers were keen to make amends and put in a winning performance.

Things did not begin well due to a start time mix-up but Fjordhus managed to keep it scoreless despite having only nine players for the first 10 minutes.

With the full compliment of players in place the game settled down and a good free hit from outside the D from Jennifer Kinsella allowed Katie Francis to cross the ball in front of the goal to be turned in by Ashley Robson.

Some good play from youngsters Elle Clarkson and Vicky Ross kept the momentum, but Fjordhus failed to capitalise further.

Boroughmuir made some good breaks which were handled well – some great saves from player of the match, keeper Gwen Forsyth – but the opposition made it 1-1 just before half-time.

The second half saw the visitors pick up the pace and they had the lion’s share of possession with the Borderers making too many mistakes.

’Muir broke from midfield and scored their second, despite some strong defending.

The hosts worked hard to level the score and came close through a good strike from Francis on the edge of the D, but the keeper made a good save.
