Robertson’s round of the season

In the first round of the Yarrowford Trophy last Saturday, Mickey Robertson had a two at the last hole to finish with a gross 62 – his best score at Selkirk and indeed the best round by anyone this season on the Hill.

His playing partner said that it could have been even better – he had bogeys at the first and the 16th to go with his eight birdies.

Tom Welsh, who holed a putt at the last from somewhere near Ashkirk for a two, shared the sweep with you know who.

Results: 1, M. S. Robertson nett 62; 2, I. Potts 64; 3, I. Stephenson 65. Twos: M. S. Robertson and T. Welsh. – A.M.

The curtain came down on the Thursday night ladies’ golf with a nine-hole three-club competition. Merle Heard played some of her best golf of the season with the reduced number of clubs to take the honours, bagging a two along with Anne Allan and Martine Pow.

Sunday saw the ladies compete in the medal competition. Marjorie Rae, playing in the silver division for the first time, having had her handicap reduced last week, promptly continued her amazing form, carding a nett 68 to win the silver division.

Anne Allan bagged her second medal of the season in the bronze division, edging out Lynne Robertson on the bih.

The ladies would like to thank Allan Associates for sponsorship of the medal.

Selkirk’S junior golfers have a double dose of competitions to look forward to as the summer season draws to a close.

The Monthly Medal will take place this Sunday at 1pm, while the following Sunday the youngsters play the Bill Ballantyne Trophy, also at 1pm, which was cancelled earlier this season. Both competitions count for the Order of Merits.
