Robertson rules the roost in shield event

THE Yarrowford Shield, awarded to the golfer with the best two rounds out of three in this autumn competition, was won by a cock-a-hoop Mickey Robertson with a score of 130.

In his last four competitive rounds, Mickey has scored 22 birdies. Something to crow about indeed.

In the last of the three rounds last Saturday, Alistair McVie led the way with a fine nett 63 which could have been better if he’d holed a five-foot putt for a two at the last, but then again he did hole a few rakers earlier on.

Captain Jock Easson continued a fine round of form with a nett 65 to come in second.

Only two players scored twos at the nominated holes – both John Coyle and Jocky Hume had twos at the ninth – but nobody managed a two at the 15th.

This week’s sympathy goes to Mitch Thomson, whose tear-stained card included both a 10 and an 11. AM
