LANGHOLM homing pigeon enthusiast Ralston Graham collected the Solway Federation Fancier of the Year trophy for the 12th time, writes John Smith.

The Solway Federation trophy awards were made during the annual general meeting at Locharbriggs, which Ralston attended and The Percy Cameron trophy that he received was first presented in 1988.

Ralston also competes in the local homing club races and has won 11 out of 12 in the past season.

He has always been interested in homing pigeons and as a schoolboy often went along to help at the local lofts.

He got pigeons of his own in 1964 and, joining the town’s club, started racing them in 1965 and has won several top prizes over the years.
