Ridden by Kelso-based Caroline Powell, Lenamore is a little horse with a huge heart.

Standing at 15.2hh this horse is one of the smallest competing at international level, but he took the daunting Mitsubishi Motors Badminton course in his stride.

The dressage phase of this year’s competition was hotly contended and Powell and Lenamore scored 47.2, which placed them equal 24th. The first-placed pair were Brampton’s Ruth Edge and Two Thyme with 33.3, an outstanding dressage score for a three-day event.

The Borders pair went on to do an exemplary cross-country ride, being both brave and bold, finishing within the time with no penalties.

They also went clear in the show jumping to gain a very well-deserved sixth place. At 18 years old, Lenamore is looking strong and fit, and continues to embody the heart and soul of eventing.

The pair have been very successful and crowned last year with a win at Burghley. Caroline rides for New Zealand, but is married to Richard Powell from Kelso.
