Selkirk golfer Martine Pow won the Scottish Senior Ladies’ Amateur Strokeplay Championship at her first attempt with a final-round 73 at Powfoot in Dumfriesshire.
Nine years after she lifted the Scottish Ladies’ Amateur Championship, Pow posted an impressive one-under-par 145 total to claim the coveted title by two strokes.
The Borderer led from start to finish in the Strokeplay Championship and she completed the clean sweep in the Matchplay, with a 3 and 2 final win over Aberdeen Ladies’ Sheena Wood.
In the semi-finals, Pow also won by 3 and 2 over Karen Burns (Bathgate), while Wood overcame Frances Millar (Carnoustie Caledonia) by 4 and 3.
It’s the second year in a row that a player has completed the double – Royal Dornoch’s Alison Bartlett achieved the feat at Elgin 12 months ago. Pow beat Bartlett in the Powfoot quarter-finals and she has now been asked to represent Scotland in the Seniors Home Internationals in Belfast and the European Internationals in Lithuania.
