With the Borders adult netball league now well under way, it was the turn of the junior clubs to have their first outing last weekend.
Sponsored by Galashiels-based architects, Aitken Turnbull, the league attracts teams from five Borders clubs – a new addition this year being Galashiels.
The first event was hosted by Hawick, and saw Peebles U13 and U15 teams both drawn against Earlston.
Playing their very first match for Peebles Netball, nerves showed amongst the U13s, with their well-oiled moves on the practice court never quite materialising in the heat of the match. However, more confident play gradually emerged, with the calm head of Emily Wilson in centre and steady shooting from Melissa Watts particularly noteworthy.
Peebles U15s showed no sign of nerves as they took centre stage in their first match.
With all players already snapped up in teams within the adult league which has been running for several weeks, their physicality and strength showed clearly as they ran out convincing winners. The next junior league day is November 1 at Earlston.
