Peebles and Berwickshire teams share top spot as league nears conclusion

The third of four play days of the Aitken Turnbull Border Netball League took place at the Gytes in Peebles on Sunday.

A much-improved performance from Peebles U-13 A ensured a confident first game win over Hawick U-13 A, with a fine demonstration of shooting, from Alana Craigmile in particular, producing a 28-5 scoreline.

After losing their midweek match against Earlston, Berwickshire HS U-14s were determined not to allow any more upsets, and after a shaky start in the second game of the day got into a flow to leave them easy 18-5 winners against Peebles.

Peebles U-13 A took to the court again to take on Hawick U-13 B, and proved just too strong for the Teries.

Last up were Berwickshire HS U-13s, in fine form after a superb midweek Scottish Schools Cup second round win over Renfrewshire’s Gryffe HS.

The team once again produced the goods to take full points against Peebles U-13 B 18-5.

The day produced new joint leaders, with Peebles U-13 A and Berwickshire HS U-14s now sharing top spot, but Peebles having one game in hand.

The final league day is on Sunday, March 13, from noon to 4pm and promises to be a cracker. Spectators are welcome.
