Langholm were in fine form last Saturday in their away match in Eden Valley League Division Two at Baggrow, winning by 195 runs, writes John Smith.
Opening the batting, Langholm made a tremendous total of 285 runs for five wickets in the 40 overs. The home side could only reply with a tally of 90.
Langholm openers Duncan Elliott (24) and Gregor Masterton started well and reached 63 before the former was caught behind by Wallace off Stewarton.
Gregor Park came to the wicket and looked surprisingly fresh after his 42-mile charity bicycle ride, where his aim is to ride to as many of the away matches as possible this season.
Masterton was bowled by Chippendale after a fine innings of 72, which included 10 fours and a six, and Langholm were 95 for two.
Park was eventually caught by Chippendale off a Skilbeck delivery after a superb innings of 126 which included 20 fours and a six.
Skilbeck was best of the home bowlers with 2 for 40.
Baggrow struggled for runs and captain Lee Meddings was the only batsman to reach double figures and show any resistance to the Langholm bowling. He reached 47 before being dismissed by Wilson, who was outstanding in the attack with 5 for 40, while Steven Johnstone took 2 for 19. It was another good effort from Langholm to keep them at the top of the league.
