Roxburgh Reivers ended their 2015 orienteering competition season on Sunday at the Scottish Score and Inter-Club Championships at Pitmedden Forest in Fife.
In the Score competition runners had 60 or 70 minutes to find as many controls as possible and finishing late attracted hefty penalties. Sarah McAdam on the 70 minute W21 class finished comfortably within the time limit with a good score to take the title.
Pauline McAdam and Lindsey Knox on the 60 minute course both finished slightly outwith the allocated time but had accumulated enough points to take the W60 and W55 trophies home. Cathy Rooney had a good run to take the runners-up spot on W55 and Marc Heger was 3rd on M16. Calum Murray and Patrick Heger finished 4th and 5th respectively on M16.
In the Inter-Club competition Roxburgh Reivers paid the price of an increased membership by being classed as a large club for the first time in its history. However, with lots of good results backing up the podium places, the Borders outfit were over the moon to take second place behind Edinburgh Southern who have almost four times the number of members. It was also special beating Forth Valley Orienteerers who recently won the UK Cup.
The next local event is at Traquair House on December 5, more details at www.roxburghreivers.org.uk
