Kelso 2 Livingston 2

Kelso Ladies hockey team were able to secure a draw against Livingston in their first league game of the season.

The Tweedsiders showed great resistance and pressure in the first half with, rookie Goal Keeper, Becky Gibson making a great save early at a defending penalty-corner.

Kelso’s mounting pressure on the opposition was unfortunately to no avail when Livingston eventually broke the deadlock through a straight strike penalty-corner.

Both sides continued to press deep and create opportunities but Kelso were able to equal the score through a well executed penalty-corner that was finished off by an excellent strike from midfielder Corrine Bird.

Kelso got off to a steady start in the second period, pushing forward with swift runs from vice-captain Yvonne Jack and strong defending by Sara Christie Green and Kirsty Eleanor.

Unfortunately, Livingston were able to force a Kelso error in their attacking circle, which was converted to a penalty-corner and subsequent second goal.

Kelso began to push forward with excellent moves and link-up play from Natasha Cranston. With determination and focus Kelso were intent and in search of a comeback and were awarded a penalty-corner, once again Bird made a clean contact strike which was deflected by a Livingston defender into the back of the goal.

Special thanks to Nicola Mackay and Katie Francis for their help during the match.
