THE Minto Gents’ Open on Saturday attracted a large entry of 130 golfers from the host and other clubs.
And it was Minto’s Gary McDonagh who emerged clear winner with a threestroke lead over Berwick’s Duncan McKinlay. This was Gary’s third success of the season, having previously won the Minto Fox and Hounds Trophy and the Minto Hole Cup, a remarkable achievement. Minto vice-captain John Law took third place among the handicap scores.
Visiting competitors were the leading scorers in the scratch competition, with Simon Fairbairn of Torwoodlee just pipping his clubmate Andy Lawrie for first place.
