Muckle shock

THE BORDER Cricket League has been plunged into an uncertain future after Langholm pulled out of the division.

The Muckle Toon were unanimously accepted into the Eden Valley League in Cumbria last Monday, ending Langholm’s 78-year presence in the top flight of Borders cricket, which has been left with only six teams.

Langholm will retain a team in the Reserve League, but Border League president Stuart Mackay said: “It has come as a shock and with our AGM in three weeks, we will have to see what the clubs can come up with for the future of the league.”
