Melrose kids get sporty in end of term event

PUPILS of all ages from St Mary’s School in Melrose enjoyed two packed day of sporting activities before breaking up for their summer holidays.

The Pre-Prep and Kindergarten Sports provided a healthy mix of fun and competition. The children, aged just two to seven, were a delight and revelled in their successes – lots of smiles and no tears at all – a fantastic effort.

All participants received an Olympic Sports Day rosette and a well-deserved bar of chocolate.

Class champions – Reception: Elsa Scott. Lower Transition: Maisy Scott. Upper Transition – girls: Jessica Wright. Upper Transition – boys: Will Stephen. Colour Winners: Blue.

Two days later, Prep School pupils held their annual athletics finals and school sports.

Parents, grandparents and friends watched as talented athletes battled for victory.

As well as championship events there were fun races for former pupils, visitors and a parents’ fun relay.

All pupils ran in the 75m/80m or 100m, the 150m or 200m, as well as class obstacle race and squad relay-longer races and field event finals were held prior to the sports.
