Home Town: Selkirk
Club/Team: Borders Fjordhus/Edinburgh University
Coach(es): Janet Jack, Irene Logan, David Stott, Colin Clark
Best moment in sport so far: Scoring the winner in Scotland Under-18s’ 1-0 victory against Ireland in the Four Nations last summer
Aims for the next 12 months: To get selected for the Scotland Under-21 team and go to the European Championships in Russia next summer with the squad
How does the ASP help you most: I do strength and conditioning twice a week with Stuart Paton which is a massive help. Also, the free access to any BSLT leisure centre is a real benefit, especially for recovery pool sessions and training away from the squad. On top of this I use the Borders Physiotherapy Clinic quite often.
Who in sport most inspires you: Janet Jack, Borders hockey legend, former Olympian.
FavOURITE sporting moment of all time: I remember watching Kelly Holmes winning her double Olympic gold and just thinking she was amazing.
Best thing about your sport: Being part of a team and knowing that everyone is going through the same pain at training, and is not just doing it for themselves but for the team – and the team banter
... but dislike: The 5am starts at weekends for training and the intensity of the fitness
If not in this sport, would like to compete in: Football. I gave up football for hockey and if I wasn’t playing hockey I would definitely still be playing football
Usual pre-competition meal: Pasta/sandwich an hour before – banana just before
Food dislikes: Eggs and tomatoes
Best motivational song or track: Lupe Fiasco – The Show Goes On
... but turn off/leave the room to: Any heavy metal/screamy, shouty music
Competition superstition or odd routine: Stand next to the same person in every national anthem line-up
When not competing or training I like to: Just chill out really, try to see friends and family. Do a bit swimming and watch movies
