It was a mixture of youth and experience that won the points at Tweedbank this Saturday, taking the Reivers to second place in East Division Two.

Missing a couple of regular faces, captain Spencer Pitman led his side with an encouraging display of passing and ball retention that sometimes left the visiting Grange side spinning.

It was from one such move that saw Graham Lofthouse lose his man and drive into the heart of the Grange defence to release the ball for his skipper to slot the ball past the advancing keeper.

Reivers looked comfortable leaders for the rest of the first half, but were unable to add to the score.

It was not until well into the second half that the pacey Jonathan Fletcher was able to burst up the right wing to the byeline, draw the keeper and release the ball for Paul Gibson to deftly sweep into the open goal.

Grange came into the game more, and were fortunate to be awarded a goal, after an obvious foot in the D. This led to a tense last few minutes to secure the points.

Praise must be given to youngsters Gavin Ross in goal with some fine saves and Baird MacIlwraith for his agressive running up front. Neither lad looked out of place in what was a well-played match.
