Langholm beat Lanercost III by 6 wickets

LANGHOLM gained an easy league victory at the Castleholm last Saturday on an amazingly dry day.

Lanercost captain Kennedy was clean bowled by Duncan Elliott in the third over with only two runs scored.

The visitors managed only 10 runs in as many overs, although the run rate did increase later in the innings.

Steve Johnstone and Jack Pool picked up the final wickets, and Lanercost were all out for a total of 62 in 26 overs.

In the home bowling, Johnstone had 4 for 16 off five overs.

Langholm started badly, with Graham Park run out when going for a quick single.

Chris Stewart and Ben Maxwell took the score to 17 before the former was dismissed by Augustine.

Euan Wilson joined Ben Maxwell for a stand of 22, before Maxwell was bowled by Halliday after a good knock of 19.

Ben’s father Geoff Maxwell was out for a duck to Halliday, but Langholm passed the visitors total in the 17th over to finish on 63 for 4.

Wilson (19) with a solid innings, was still at the wicket with Elliott.

In the Lanercost bowling, Halliday had 2 for 8.

Langholm are now second-top of Division Three.
