REGISTRATION for the Kelso 10k, to be held on Sunday, July 17, is now open.
Sponsors Aptek, along with organisers Kelso Crawlers, have decided to support the Borders Children Charity – established nearly 50 years ago to support children in the region who are in desperate need of basic requirements such as beds, blankets and clothing.
With virtually no overheads, 99 per cent of every penny raised goes to help children in the Borders.
“It’s amazing to think how many children in our local area need help and support with things most of us take for granted,” said Ian Burton, managing director of Aptek.
“This is a worthy cause and I am glad we are supporting it with this year’s 10k.”
One of the more manageable challenges to be held in the region, open to young and old alike (minimum age 15), the Kelso 10k is a scenic race and relatively flat. Competitors meet at the Cobbie in Kelso and run through the grounds of Floors Castle, before finishing back at the riverside.
Mr Burton added: “Spending most of my day analysing companies and advising them on the most efficient technological solutions for their business, I find running totally clears the mind and helps with focus.”
Application forms for the race are available online at www.aptek.co.uk and www.kelsocrawlers.org.uk
The club meets every Tuesday at Abbey Fitness Centre (6pm) and a series of practise runs are held on the last Sunday of each month. Visit the Crawlers’ website for more details.
