Junior guns hit the top

SELKIRK shooters have been turning up the heat in their respective leagues despite the plummeting temperatures.

The Selkirk Rifle Club junior three-man squad had a great result in the Dorset Team League, defeating Bournemouth C by 377-371. Scores from the boys were Darren Brown 97+95, Daniel Burton 93+92 and Andrew Nichol 90+91.

This result keeps the Souters at the top of their league. Their next match is against Ex Waterlow C, which could be close.

In the Selkirk-Prestonpans Team Junior League, Selkirk defeated their East Lothian counterparts 273-255, Selkirk scorers Andrew Nichol 96, Darren Brown 97 and Keir Ballantyne 80.

In the individual league between the two clubs, Andrew Nichol is flying the flag for Selkirk. After two rounds he lies equal first.

Kevin Edward won the seniors’ monthly medal, while Robert Murray won the Tinline Cup with a personal best of 98.

In the Junior Monthly Medal, 12-year-old Darren Brown shot a great 98 out of 100 to take the prize.
