Kelso Ladies 2

KELSO Ladies travelled to Tranent to play local rivals Peebles on Saturday.

Kelso finally settled into their game after about 20 minutes in the first half and were unfortunate on a number of occasions not to take advantage of the scoring opportunities they made.

Their persistence paid off when Natasha MacLaren picked up a great pass and confidently took on two players before sweeping a great shot into the bottom corner of the goal.

Seconds after restarting, confident Kelso were back on the attack and this time it was striker Corrine Bird who picked up a pass in the circle and did not think twice before firing a shot into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The second half found Kelso Ladies creating yet more chances, however, they could not capitalise on them.

This was a very important win for Kelso Ladies which gives them a bit of breathing space from the bottom of the league table.

Kelso: L. Blaikie, T. Patterson, K. Carruthers, D. Paxton, N. McKay, J. Lofthouse, G. Thomson, E. Pate, S. Green, N. McLaren, S. Fleming, J. Laing, L. Laing and C. Bird.
