Sunday saw the ladies 1st XI face their second match of a tough double-header weekend.

After returning from Aberdeen on Saturday evening the team lodged in Dundee overnight ahead of their Cup match against the renowned Division 1 side Dundee Wanderers boasting two full Scottish Internationalists.

The young Reivers side came face to face with their opponents at Mayfield and as pass back was taken Wanderers Captain and Scotland star Vikki Bunce, managed to weave her way through the pitch and stun Reivers to put the ball in the back off the net.

The Borders ladies recovered from the early nerves to play some superb hockey however Wanderers managed to find the net on four more occasions although, Reivers keeper Isla MacIness put in some excellent saves to keep the score down as the half time whistle came.

The second half saw Reiver’s defence pushed to the limits once again with Captain Pippa Bell putting in many heroic tackles. Some excellent play by Maris Cawthorn and Caitlin Wright provided Reivers with breaks while Jackie Wilson played some superb hockey.

However Reivers failed to find the net in the match and a bad spell of play allowed Wanderers to score six goals in the second half.
