CHAIRMAN Chris Highton welcomed a healthy turnout of members to Selkirk Cricket Club’s AGM.

There was a minute’s silence at the start of the night in memory of life member Graham Bateman who passed away during the past year, as well as some other members of the club.

In his remarks the chairman thanked the hard work of treasurer Joyce Wright and Malcolm Ford for running the bar, as well as everyone who helped out from cutting grass, preparing wickets, preparing players’ teas, serving behind the bar, looking after machinery and those who helped out with repairs.

He then went on to point out improvements to the clubrooms in the last year and added that plans were under way for upgrading of the electrics and heating pipework.

On the playing front it was reported that the 2010 season had seen an improvement with the first team reaching the final of the South of Scotland 20/20 as well as the Border Sixes, and the seconds winning the reserve league.
