More than 80 all-round athletes converged on Selkirk last Sunday for the second event in the 2014 Borders Sport and Leisure Triathlon series.
The standard format competition featured a challenging 1,500m swim, 39km cycle and 10km run. The oldest competitor was 62 and the youngest just 18.
Attracting triathletes from across Scotland and England, the event saw Selkirk’s own George Gannicott finish first junior male.
Mireille Capiteux from Edinburgh won the ladies’ race, with Craig Dale, also from Edinburgh, first home for the men. Borders athletes were well represented with excellent performances from competitors including Jane Holmes (Duns) and Rachel Fagan (Melrose), who came second and third respectively in the female race.
Grahame Veitch (Kelso) was the first-placed male vet. Full results at www.bslt.org.uk.
