Great golf and some excitement in finals

There was plenty of excellent golf and excitement on The Hill last Saturday on Championship Finals day with three of the finals going to the last hole, writes Alan McGhee.

The course was looking at its best and golfers and spectators had a good day out.

Results: Championship - Donald Ballantyne beat Les McAllister 1 hole; B Championship - John Coyle beat Les Rutherford 1 hole; C Championship - Mitch Thomson beat Ian Wilkie 3 & 1; Ladies - Diane Cassidy beat Alison Rutherford 1 hole; Juniors - Ryan Legge beat Matthew Brass; Matthew McKay beat Struan Legge.

On Tuesday, 64 golden oldies took to the course in the Selkirk Seniors Open.

The cup went to Graham Clark of Duns who pipped our Ronnie Douglas on the better inward half. Other home players to feature in the prizes, sponsored by Elliot Henderson, were Ian Stephenson, Ian Wilkie, Les Rutherford, Jimmy Rae, Jocky Hume and Gordon Wood.
