HAWICK and Wilton’s under 11 side travelled to the home of Scotland’s national team last Sunday to face one of Edinburgh’s biggest clubs.
The young Teries took on Grange in the East Region Under-11s final, having qualified after defeating Gala in the Rowan Boland Memorial Trophy final.
Fielding first on the quick Grange outfield, the Hawick boys bowled well against a very strong Grange batting line-up.
The home side ended on 122 for 1, Ross Nichol taking the only wicket with an excellent catch off his own bowling. Greg Johnston and Harris Brogan were the pick of the other Hawick bowlers.
Grange also proved to be a top-notch bowling side but Hawick put in a great effort to end on 91 for 5 from their 16 overs.
Captain Evan Alexander was topscorer on 28, including three sixes, one of which was a huge hit in the final over.
The Borders team did themselves proud and raised their game against quality opposition.
