z AS SHE prepares for the European Masters indoor championships in Belgium in March, Peebles athlete Linda Nicholson won two Scottish Masters titles at Kelvin Hall on Sunday – the long jump and the 60m.

Her long jump of 4.66m was a new indoor PB and Scottish W50 record, breaking the previous record of 4.62m set back in 1997.

In the 60m Nicholson’s 8.78sec was only 0.01sec outside her championship record set last year.

Her successes as an athlete in her own right came only two days after double success in the same pit as a coach, both her athletes winning their respective Scottish Schools over-16 and under-16 long jump titles on Thursday.
