Excitement is building for an exciting darting event in the Borders on Sunday, August 24.

The Volunteer Hall in Duns is the venue for the Dalgleish Berwickshire Open competition when four local darts players will take on four PDC darting stars to raise money for the local Multiple Sclerosis charity group.

The event will be a fantastic afternoon of darts offering a chance to meet the PDC players and even bid in a charity auction to play them all to raise funds for this worthwhile charity which aids local sufferers.

Barry Dalgleish from Galashiels will play Berwickshire and Scotland’s very own former Premier League champion Gary ‘The Flying Scotsman’ Anderson.

In the other matches Darren Bohme from Duns will take on Stephen ‘The Bullet’ Bunting, the current BDO world champion, Kenny Latimer from Birgham will play Dean Winstanley and Callum Donaldson from Duns will play Micheal ‘Bullyboy’ Smith.

Gary Anderson said: “I am glad to be coming back to the Borders along with Michael Dean and Stephen. I have a lot of supporters and friends in the Borders.”

All of the local players play in local darts leagues and had to win some very tough games to qualify to play the stars.

There has been some fantastic sponsorship from local businesses such as Dalgleish Citroen, Pearsons of Duns, Simpsons Malt and Berwick Bandits along with local golf clubs and pubs donating raffle and auction prizes.

Local rally star Euan Thorburn, who is a huge supporter of this local charity, is due to attend the event and help to raise cash for this very worthwhile cause.

Tickets are available by calling 07745218856 and are priced at £40 for a VIP ticket which includes a ‘Meet and Greet’ with the players before the darts games start or £30 for a standard ticket. They can be purchased as single tickets or as a complete table. Tickets are still available and only a call away so why not come and have a fantastic afternoon’s entertainment, meet the stars and help to raise money.
