Galashiels swimmers record PBs aplenty at Glenrothes

The first round of the2014 East District Age Group Championships took place at Glenrothes last weekend.

The representatives from Gala ASC certainly made their mark with some fantastic swimming.

Five members travelled to Fife as part of the BEST Squad for two days of gruelling distance swims, and although tired come Sunday night, they can be very satisfied with their weekend’s work.

Bethany Hamilton put in a great display in the 400IM just missing out on a PB, while Maili Brown and Lindsay Jack achieved PBs in the 100IM, 400IM, 400 & 800 free.

Sarah Frizzel also knocked the spots off her previous times for the 400IM and 400 free.

Not to be outdone by the girls, Andrew Watt also achieved PBs in his 100IM, 400IM, 400 & 1500 free swims – a truly remarkable achievement by all.

Gala ASC would also like to congratulate all the other members of the BEST squad who also competed at Glenrothes, punching well above their weight for a small group, and interim performance coach Lauren Jocelyn must be well pleased with the performance of her new charges. Well done to you all.

The Gala club now starts three weeks of club championship swimming.
