Gala Amateur Swimming Club members have had their wish of upgrading their training equipment granted, thanks to funding from various sources.
Over the last year the Gala committee have been committed to acquiring new lane ropes, diving blocks and turning boards, and after consultation with Border Sport and Leisure, the club started an ambitious project.
Hours of filling in paperwork have now paid off and the club has been awarded grants, amounting to just over £19,000 from Club Sport Ettrick and Lauderdale, SBC Community Grant Fund and the Rowan Boland Trust, all of which were dependent on a successful application from Awards for All.
Club president Douglas Watt said: “The new equipment will allow our members to train in an environment more akin to the city pools, which can only benefit the club and the community in general.”
The club would like to thank all its funding partners, with special mention to Mark Forsyth and Linda Cornwall.
