THE Scottish Borders Endurance Riding Club had the warmest most beautiful April day anyone could remember for their ride along the banks of the Tweed, starting from Wooden Anna near Kelso.

Revisiting a route used by the festival of the horse last year, the 56 horses and riders, 15 of which were newcomers to the sport, passed through the haughs near Redden and powered their way along the old railway line in a pleasure ride covering 23km. The going was dry and, with hardly any roadwork, resulted in a very fast ride.

The day was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part. Thanks go to everyone who made the day possible, including landowners, helpers on the day and the Sykes family who organised the ride.

The next ride is a two-day event with various distances to be held over the weekend of May 14 and 15. Details at www.scottishendurance.com and click on the Borders branch link.
