Kelso Orchard Tennis Club held a US Open Doubles Tournament, barbecue and racquets demo by Peter Gannon of Gannon Sports on Sunday, and the glorious weather ensured all went well.
The tournament was won by Ella Laing, who had the most points amassed throughout the day. Kerstin Cameron was runner-up, with Archie Robertson and John Archbold third equal.
There were more than 20 participants, and the club thanked coach Lesley Thomas and her assistants Kate Bull and Jacqui Welsh for arranging such a successful day and Gannon Sport for the demo.
Club coaches Lesley Thomas, Lee Brown and Kate Bull (who is also outsourced to Wilton Park and Hawick Club as coach) were all on hand at the opening of the new facility at Hawick to help coach all the children attending.
Lucy Porteous, Kelso’s Special Olympic World Medal Winner was invited as a special guest to officially open the courts.
