Ettrick Forest archer Elaine Pearson recorded a delightful double in the most trying of conditions at the weekend.
Not content with taking the Scottish Spring Target shoot title during Saturday’s swirling winds at the club’s home ground of Thirladean, she also topped the ladies’ class to win the Andrew Mackay Clout at a soaked Mugdock Country Park on Sunday.
Her target score of 88 hits for a score of 33o, including two golds, blew away the opposition, which included archers from other clubs. Kyle Fairbairn took the junior title, while his granddad Doug Anderson won the medal for most golds in the gents’ section and Alan Lindsay won the highest score, but Alan Beatty won the day with 48 hits.
On the Sunday, scores were a lot closer for Elaine, but she still prevailed witb a score of 46 hits for a score of 112.
Also travelling up toGlasgow were Mike Pearson and Ev Craig, who both came seventh in their respective classes.
