After the disappointment of Brands Hatch, Hawick’s Rapid Solicitor’s Kawasaki British Superbike rider Stuart Easton made the trip to Thruxton last weekend in his bid to move up the standings.
Saturday afternoon’s qualifying took the form of three timed sessions to determine the grid for the first of two Sunday 20 lap races.
It is also a form of a knockout where only the top 10 make it through to the final qualifying session. Easton made it through to Q2 and then failed to progress resulting in a 19th place on the grid for the first race on Sunday. Things didn’t get any better, Easton was well off the pace finishing 21 seconds off the leaders in 16th.
Changes to his bike meant he had much better pace for the second race where he finished in seventh, eight seconds off the double winner Yamaha’s Josh Brookes.
Easton is now in eighth place in the Championship, 25 points off a place in the top six with two rounds and five races left until the split. The next round is at Oulton Park in Cheshire this weekend.
