THE Eildon Hills set the scene for a fantastic two-day event organised by the Borders Endurance Riding Branch (BERB) over the weekend.
With varied distances of 80km, 60km, 50km, 30km and a pleasure ride over the two days, the weekend attracted about 72 horses and riders from eight branches across Scotland.
With the weather so dry recently, the tracks over the Saint Cuthbert’s Way and the Borders Abbey Way made the terrain tough going with some steep climbs resulting in a rather challenging ride.
There were, however, some lovely forestry tracks, open moorland and farmland that allowed for fast going and fantastic scenery.
BERB wish to thank everyone involved in organising and running the event, as well as landowners and farmers for allowing the ride to take place.
The next event will be a pleasure ride on June 19 at Brothershiels near Heriot. Visit www.scottishendurance.com and click on the Borders branch links for details. Non-members are always welcome to come along.
