Cranston treble helps Kelso to four

After an unlucky late defeat against Dunfermline Ladies the previous week, Kelso’s attitude was not dampened for this hockey match against Livingston & West Lothian Ladies.

Kelso had an early shot on goal with a penalty corner taken by Natasha Cranston, which was deflected by a Livingston player before sailing narrowly past the visiting keeper and into the net.

Kelso kept the pressure on and a delightful one-two between Natasha Cranston and Becky Gibson was passed into the D to Claire White who finished it off with a second goal for the Tweedsiders. Cranston then notched a third to put her team 3-0 up at the break.

Livingston fought back and after notching an early goal pushed the play back upfield to gain a penalty corner. This was taken with a lift and despite Kelso keeper, Lynn Blaikie, jumping to save, the ball managed to tip over her pads and hit the back board.

With seconds to go Kelso gained another penalty corner and with such success Natasha Cranston took the strike again, gaining a hat-trick leading to Kelso’s fourth just as the finals whistle blew.

Kelso would like to take this opportunity to thank their sponsors, SJ Cranston Building & Tweed Chiropractor, for their continued support and to the White Swan for their after match teas.
