VERSATILE Borders College staff member, Chrys Murphy MBE, has added another string to his bow recently by winning the senior veterans’ section of the Borders Cross-country series.
Comprising of five to six miles of tough terrain, in venues such as Lauder, Peebles, Paxton House, Norham, and Dunbar with the final leg in the series being held in Galashiels, the series attracted 280 entries in each race.
And, after the final race was completed, the various winners emerged in respective age groups with Murphy winning the senior veterans’ 60-70s category.
This was despite sustaining a serious knee injury during the event in Dunbar, when after completing the race he went for treatment on only to find out that he had broken his patella.
Murphy’s role within the college combines working for BC Consultants, the HR department and the sports department working as a trainer, delivering a range of short courses and modules including leadership, and first aid, as well coaching and mentoring.
