WHITEADDER Sailing Centre is pushing the boat out next weekend – literally.

On Saturday, July 21, from 1-5pm, the Borders-based outfit will be joining a host of sailing clubs and centres across the country taking part in the Push the Boat Out Day, as part of the RYA’s Sail for Gold celebrations.

The nationwide event aims to get as many people out on the water as possible.

The Whiteadder Sailing Centre will be doing their bit by offering free sailing for qualified/experienced sailors, use of the centre dinghies (Lasers, Laser Pico’s, Laser 2000s, Wayfarers, Dart 16s), participation in a mass sail-by, tours of the centre, quizzes and competitions with prizes.

Neil Couch, one of the dinghy instructor team at the Whiteadder Sailing Centre, said: “We’re really excited to be part of Push the Boat Out. We hope to get up to 24 boats out on the water on the day and that everyone will really make the most of it and come along and have a go for themselves.”

Push the Boat Out is one of the big events on the RYA’s Sail for Gold programme calendar providing the perfect opportunity to showcase sailing to the nation and show support for our Olympic and Paralympic sailors prior to the London 2012 Games.
