Top amateur runner Ryan Oswald of Pitreavie is back marker for the City of Edinburgh Running Festival 110m handicap at Meggetland tomorrow (Friday) evening.
A Scottish internationalist, Oswald has ran with the best on the amateur scene and has recently returned following a training stint in the United States.
Two metres ahead of Oswald (scratch) in the sprint is another high-flying amateur, Tom Holligan of Edinburgh.
A real powerhouse performer, Holligan made a big impresion recently when winning the Selkirk Games 110m handicap.
Earlston’s Graeme Scott, victor of the Festival sprint a year back, runs from 8m.
Other Borders athletes gunning for the £3,000 prize pot are G. Turnbull (4m), J. Parker (4.5m), D. Ali (5m), S. Harrison (6m), C. Grieve (6.5m), E. Pettigrew (8m) and C. Bruce (11.5m).
The 800m handicap, which has a winning purse of £1,000, consists of three heats and a final. Colin Welsh (20m), Kyle Potts (80m), Kobe Stevens (70m) and Jordan Taylor (65m) are part of the local contingent going in this event. Other senior races and youths’ events complete the Meggetland bill.
