Borderers hit the track running at Grangemouth

Local athletes were to the fore in the East District Championships held at Grangemouth Stadium on Saturday.

For competitors based in the Borders, there were eight golds, 11 silvers, nine bronzes and a host of other finalists, some coming very close to medals.

Earning gold in their age groups and classes were:

Rosie Browne (Edinburgh AC, under-15 girls pole vault, 2.10m); Keira Waddell (Chirnside Chasers, under-15 girls’ javelin, 24.71m); Hannah Little (Lasswade AC, under-13 girls 800m, 2.28.49); Michael Girdler (Moorfoot, under-13 boys 800m, 2.16.70); Cameron Tindle (Edinburgh AC, under-20 100m 10.78); Henry Clarkson (Lasswade, under-17 men’s long jump, 6.22m); Freddie Rooke (Edinburgh AC) under-17 triple jump, 13.12m); Jordan Charters (Lasswade, senior male long jump, 7.19m).

Silvers went to:

Jasmine Tomlinson U20W 100m; Stacey Downie SenW 100m and 400m; Bryony Patterson U17W long jump and triple jump; Sarah Davenport U15G 800m; Ellie O’Hara U13G long jump and 70mhurdles; Patrick Swan SenM 200m; Dominic O’Hare U20M 1,500m; and Henry Clarkson U17M triple jump.

And there were bronzes for:

Jasmine Tomlinson U20W 200m; Stacey Downie SenW 200m; Hannah Little U13G shot putt; Ellie O’Hara U13G high jump; Ethan Elder U13B 1,500m; Adam Leighton U13B high jump; Patrick Swan SenM 100m; Craig Mullins U20M hammer; and Adam Leighton under-13 boys long jump.
