KELSO hard hitter Leanne Wilson, 14, claimed a fourth-placed finish in the recent Highland Spring Junior Masters Grand Final at Gleneagles.

Wilson, a 14-handicapper, collected 35 points after an impressive display, but just missed out on a place in the top three. The Kelso High School pupil is a member at both Kelso Golf Club and the Roxburghe and has been playing since she was 10 years old.

In order to qualify for the Gleneagles event, Wilson had to come in the top two at the Kelso qualifier before securing a place in the top four at the regional round on the Loudoun course, Kilmarnock.

Wilson began her season in fine form, taking runner-up spot in the Border Ladies County Golf Association Championship at the Roxburgh and following that up two weeks later by becoming the scratch winner at the Border Girls Strokeplay Championship at the Hirsel. Last month, she won the bronze at the SLGA Grand Medal final at Crieff.
