Berwickshire High took eight of the 12 titles available at the Border Secondary Schools Badminton Championships held last Sunday at Duns.
Eyemouth High took three of the remaining titles, and Kelso High scraped home with the other.
With more than 75 entries from eight of the region’s nine secondary schools, this was always going to be a long day.
The event began at 9.45am with the singles tournaments before moving on to the level doubles by mid-afternoon, with a 6.15pm finish.
Event organiser Lynn Young commented: “It was great to see so many senior players, particularly those taking badminton within their PE coursework in Standard Grade or Higher, with minimal competitive experience, coming along to play and enjoy themselves.”
Thanks were given to all who made the event run so smoothly.
Best wishes were given to Robbie Patterson (Scottish Schools and National Age group Champion) on his selection to the Scottish side playing in Switzerland in mid-February, as well as the S6 squad players whose last year it was in the competition.
This Saturday (February 8) it is the turn of the primary children’s championships which are being held in Berwickshire High School from 9.30am.
