PLAYING in the Under-18s Knock-out Cup, Kelso High retained the trophy they won for the first time last year in emphatic style.
In the first round they defeated Berwickshire 8–0, then Earlston HS 10–0 before coming up against their main rivals Selkirk in the final.
Selkirk had defeated both Galashiels and Hawick 2–0 on their way to the final, but were unfortunate not to be able to field their strongest side when they came up against Kelso.
The first half started with some end-to-end play and Selkirk pressed hard gaining the advantage, winning two penalty corners.
Kelso remained composed however, defending well and clearing the ball to start new attacks. They were soon awarded their own penalty corner and Claire Hill scored from the top of the D.
Lucy Ramsay added to the score with a cracking shot from open play and Hill made it 3–0 at half-time, again from a penalty corner.
The second half saw Selkirk still trying to find a way through a strong Kelso defence, but Hill added another to make the final score 4–0.
